7. Fòrum
Restaurant with important archaeological remains of one of the vaults of the circus and the southern façade of the circus enclosure.
On the southern side of Plaça de la Font (Fountain Square) we find the Fòrum restaurant. Despite its name, the establishment is not in or near the Roman Forum, being located instead in one of the interior arched vaults of the old Roman Circus. But what a vault it is! The space occupied by the establishment is unique in the square, since its depth is greater than that of the neighbouring premises, allowing us to see a piece of the monument that is not visible anywhere else: a part of the arches of the Circus façade in all its splendour. This restaurant is the perfect place to have a good meal while dreaming of the excitement, fuss, and adrenaline of the spectacle that so many generations of Romans lived through in this place’s glory days.

The restaurant occupies one of the vaults of the Circus. From the entrance we see on both sides the lower walls of the vault, made with the opus quadratum technique, although many modifications have taken place over the centuries, especially in terms of the opening and filling in of doors and windows. Nowadays, the vault is divided into the access floor and a mezzanine, from which you can see a section of the top of the vault of the Circus, which is built with the opus caementicium technique. The main interest of the premises lies in the part furthest from the entrance, where we find the access to the mezzanine and we can see the large semi-circular arches, built with large, worked-stone ashlars, which have a height of two floors, and which were part of the main façade of the Circus.
