Old medieval convent and baptistery built taking advantage of part of the structure of the provincial forum representation square. It will host the Tarraco mock-up and a video mapping for welcoming to the city.

The buildingIt will host the Tarraco mock-up and a video mapping for welcoming to the city. It was the old Convent of St. Dominic within the walls. The set of buildings that were part of the convent are now commonly known as the Volta del Pallol (Vault of the Granary) due to the magnificent medieval vault incorporated into the building’s façade. The convent is singular in its medieval architecture built upon the western Roman monumental remains of the provincial forum representation square . Nowadays, the convent and its annexed buildings are being adapted in order to host the Porta Tàrraco project.

The entrance to Porta Tàrraco is located at Plaça del Pallol, 4.

There are some Roman archaeological remains preserved in the buildings’ interior: a podium, a 15-metre-wide portico, and the westernmost wall of the provincial forum representation square , presided by 12-metre-high Doric order columns. As they stand today, the façade and interior, as well as the most distinctive element, the vault, date from around the second half of the 15th century, the Dominican order having established a convent at the Plaça del Pallol in 1462.
